Crowder receives $3.6 million grant
On Friday, Crowder College was awarded a $3,576,760 U.S. Department of Labor grant that will be used to expand programs at the Cassville, Nevada and Webb City campuses. The funds will also allow the Cassville Campus to expand its addictions counseling program to other campuses.
"The addictions counseling professionals program was started here, and this is the only campus where it is offered," said Angela Seymour, Crowder College Cassville Campus director. "The grant will allow us to move our part-time instructor to a full-time coordinator position. It will also allow us to develop additional resources for the program."
Dr. Heidi Henderson, who created the curriculum for the addictions counseling program, will become the Crowder College Cassville Campus' first full-time general education staff member later this year.
"It is so exciting," said Seymour. "Students at the Webb City, Neosho and Nevada campuses have been asking about our addictions counseling program. This will give us a chance to expand the program beyond Cassville. It is a wonderful opportunity."
