Alma Louise Smith, 81, of Rocky Comfort, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Anderson.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1929, in Washburn to the late John and Effie (Snook) Day. She married Cliss Henry Smith in 1948 at Exeter, and to this union two children were born. She had lived most of her life in Rocky Comfort.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliss Henry Smith in 1964; her parents; one sister, Helen; five brothers, Hardy, Harold, A.B., Walt and Kenneth; and a stepson, Charles.

Survivors include: her son, Roger Smith, of Anderson; her daughter, Johnnie Buchanan and husband, John, of Rocky Comfort; two sisters, Ruby Fletcher, of Washburn, and Mary Murphy, of Missoula, Mont.; two brothers, John Day, of Exeter, and Gail Day, of Monett; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three stepchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson. Rev. Jerry Seigel will officiate. Burial will follow at the Rocky Comfort Cemetery in Rocky Comfort.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Golden Living Center Residence Council in care of the funeral home.
