Helen L. Harper, 87, of Kansas City, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, in Clinton Care and Rehab, Plattsburg.
She was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Tulsa, Okla., the daughter of Vernie and Edith (Cook) Harris. On Nov. 22, 1939, she was united in marriage to William R. Harper, who preceded her in death on April 22, 1992. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, Joe Harris, Jack Harris and George Harris and a son-in-law, Art Huber.
Survivors include: three sons, David C. Harper and his wife, Joann, of Kansas City, Daniel G. Harper and his wife, Linda, of Eagle Rock, and William R. Harper and his wife, Kathy, of Holt; one daughter, Linda L. Huber, of Bella Vista, Ark.; one sister, Peggy Charlton and her husband, Obern, of Granby; nine grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.
She started her education in Tulsa, Okla., and then went to Fairview, graduating from Fairview High School. Upon her retirement, she moved to Butterfield, where she lived 12 years before moving to Kearney to be near some of her family.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Brother Steve Higgs conducted the services. Burial was Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.
