Madge Della Sparkman, 95, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.

She was born Oct. 16, 1914, in Mano, the daughter of Bill and Samantha (Chappell) Holman. On Nov. 11, 1933, she was united in marriage to Earl Sparkman, who preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, A.C. and Edward Holman; and three sisters, Cleo Rich, Faye Priest and Eunice Thomas.

Survivors include: one son, Earl "Dave" Sparkman and his wife, Betty, of Cassville; two daughters, Edna Samantha "Sammy" Hudson, of Exeter, and Ronnie Rose and her husband, Russell, of Cassville; two brothers, Billy Holman, of Raymore, and Calvin Holman, of Cassville; three sisters, Maxine Williams, of Springfield, Iola Lordanich, of Irvine, Calif., and Winona Synold, of Irvine, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great- grandchildren.

She received her education at Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School. She attended Monett Junior College and graduated from the University of Arkansas. On Aug. 28, 1932, she was baptized in the First Baptist Church, Cassville, where she had remained a faithful member. Around 40 years of her life was spent as a school teacher. Throughout her career she taught at East Fork, Cross Hollows, Oak Ridge, Forest Grove and for 20 years she taught at Southwest School in Washburn, retiring in 1975.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
