Elburn "E.L." Ray, 68, of Wheaton, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, in Cox-Monett Hospital, Monett.

He was born April 5, 1941, in Wheaton, the son of Wilbur and Marie (Harader) Ray. On July 7, 1961, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Ross, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Chris Ray and his wife, Lana, of Wheaton; one daughter, Mindy Ross and her husband, David, of Cassville; one sister, Ellen Schoen and her husband, Dwayne, of Freistatt; two grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, David and Richard Ross.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

He received his education at Wheaton, where he graduated from high school. For 20 years, he was in the car sales business and then owned and operated L-Rays Restaurant. For the last 20 years, he was a truck driver for Dunfee and Sons of Cassville. He attended Wheaton United Methodist Church. He was a member and had been president of the Community Club.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Burial was at Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.
