Dorothy Lemons, 78, of Exeter, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
She was born June 10, 1931, in Augusta, Kan., the daughter of Leslie and Eliza (Hilburn) Chappell. On March 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to James Clifford Lemons, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1970. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Larry Lemons; two brothers, Elbert and J.E. Chappell; and two sisters, Evalee Rogers and Mary Sapp.
Survivors include: two daughters, Peggy Clark and her husband, Clint, of Exeter, and Teresa Pendergraft, of Exeter; one brother, John Chappell, of Cassville; two sisters, Jeannie Scott, of Exeter, and Doris Mark, of Fairview; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
She received her education at Shady Grove and Augusta, Kan. Most of her life was spent in Exeter. She had been employed at Vasey-Bristol and Jumping Jack Shoe Factories and worked at Fasco, from which she retired. She was a member of Rocky Comfort Church of Christ and a member of Stella Senior Citizens Association.
Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Richard Anderson conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
