Gilbert Leslie Riffe, 75, of Cassville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Manor Care Nursing Facility, Springfield.

He was born Aug. 13, 1934, in Kansas City, the son of George and Dora (Lloyd) Riffe. On May 9, 1957, he was united in marriage to Vernetta Sousley, who survives.

Additional survivors include: three sons, Jeffery Riffe and his wife, Nancy, of Cassville, Joel Riffe and his wife, Sheila, of Jacket, and Daniel Riffe and his wife, Claudine, of Monett; one daughter, Christina Ledbetter and her husband, Paul, of Cassville; one brother, Curtis Riffe, of Lee's Summit; three sisters, Norma Jean Cox, of Kinsgland, Ark., Vyrel Dean Poston, of Bay City, Texas, and Lona Laughlin, of Jacket; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two grandchildren.

He received his education in Kansas City, where he graduated from high school. At the age of 18 he joined the United States Army and six years later joined the United States Air Force, retiring in 1972. He served our country in Korea and two terms in Vietnam. Being in the military he lived in many different places and settled in Missouri around 30 years ago.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jack Freeman conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
