Thomas Owen Tate, 70, of Monett, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, in his home.

He was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Easyville, the son of Charles Wayne and Mary Lucile (Morlan) Tate. April 6, 2002, in Eureka Springs, Ark., he was united in marriage to Tina Smith, who survives.

Additional survivors include: three sons, Tommy Joe Tate and his wife, Tracy, of Purdy, Colten Coy, of Purdy, and Michael Coy, of Purdy; two daughters, Tamara Cassity and her husband, Jason, of Purdy, and Darla Myers and her husband, Doug, of Monett; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Winford Tate; and grandparents, T.G. "Pude" and Grace Morlan, and Walter and Rosa Tate.

He received his education at Purdy, where he graduated from high school. He was a self-employed plumber.

Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) at Bethel Cemetery, Monett, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Arnold Ray Evans conducted the services.
