Donald Benton Jones, 83, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
He was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Pierce City, the son of Luther Benton and Mildred (Dillworth) Jones, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was a great-grandson.
Survivors include: five daughters, Donna Morrison and her husband, David, of Harvest, Ala., Elizabeth Sheraden and her husband, Bruce, of Springdale, Ill., Patricia Cargile and her husband, Jack, of Washburn, Kathy Neal and her husband, Scott, of Cassville, and Carol Morrow and her husband, John, of Topeka, Kan.; one son, Jeffrey Charles Jones, of Aurora; two brothers, Jerry Jones, of Henderson, Nev., and Frank Shuster, of Carthage; two sisters, Charlotte Wiley, of Sacramento, Calif., and Helen Stoneking, of Carthage; 21 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
He received his education at Cassville, graduating with the class of 1944. During World War II, he entered the United States Army, serving from April 17, 1944, until Jan. 16, 1946. He resided in Kansas City several years and was a truck driver for IML Truck Lines. Five years ago, he moved back to Cassville to make his home.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Corinth Baptist Church, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Bob Neeley and Rev. James Stewart conducted the services. Burial was at Corinth Cemetery, Cassville.
