BOBBY LEE VAN SANDT

Bobby Lee Van Sandt, 72 of Monett, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at his home. He was born in Barry County on Nov. 27, 1937, son of James Robert and Loretta (Phettaplace) Van Sandt. He was a lifelong resident of Barry County, graduating from Purdy High School. In 2003, he married Virginia M. Cordell in Oklahoma. He worked as a logger and house painter most of his life and was most recently employed with George's until his illness forced retirement.

Survivors include: his wife, Virginia, of Monett; one son, Brad Van Sandt, and his wife, Vicki, of Monett; three daughters, Becky Butterworth, and her husband, Dave, of Aurora, Tracy Dobyns, and her husband, Terry, of Purdy, and Bobbi Plopper, and her husband, Tim, of Purdy; three sisters, Barbara Freeman, of Rogers, Ark., Carol Jean Van Sandt, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Velma McDowell, of Washington State; one brother, Joe VanSandt, of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister; and one son, Billy Van Sandt.

Funeral services will be held at White Funeral Home, Cassville on Friday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m. with burial immediately following at Arnhart Cemetery in East Purdy. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at White Funeral Home, Cassville.
