Sen. Goodman to headline Cassville Chamber banquet
Community members who attend the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet will have the opportunity to hear an address by Sen. Jack Goodman. The banquet will be held in the Cassville High School commons area at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23.
"I am grateful for the chamber's invitation to speak at their annual banquet," said Goodman. "With all of the outstanding leaders and citizens in the Cassville community, I consider it a true honor to be asked. I always enjoy visiting with so many friends at the banquet."
Goodman, a Republican, represents Barry, Lawrence, McDonald, Ozark, Stone and Taney counties in the Missouri Senate. He was elected in November of 2005.
Prior to serving as a state senator, Goodman served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Dade County from 1997 to 2002. He was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2002 and 2004. In his second House term, he served as the assistant majority leader.
Goodman is presently on the Government Relations Committee of the American Lung Association of Missouri, is past president of the 39th Judicial Circuit Bar Association and is a member of the Southwest Missouri Cattleman's Association. He lives in Mt. Vernon with his wife, Laura, and sons, Jack Elliott Goodman and William True Goodman.
In addition to enjoying Goodman's address, attendees will be treated to a banquet dinner catered by John Sullivan and the Cassville High School FCCLA. Accents-N-Tents will provide decor for the event.
"People in the community should make plans to come out and hear Sen. Goodman speak and recognize the leadership in the chamber," said Mindi Artherton, chamber executive director. "These people work so hard and use their own time to serve their community. They deserve to be recognized."
Current and outgoing chamber board members will be recognized during the event, and special awards will be presented to several chamber members. The banquet will also offer addresses by Richard Asbill, outgoing board president, and Virgil Harington, incoming board president.
New chamber board members who will be recognized during the banquet are Michelle Bredeson, Gary Whyte, Darrin Jacobs and Michael LeCompte. Retiring board members include: Asbill, Bill Shiveley, Greg Beck and Carolyn Bishop.
Near the end of the banquet, those in attendance will have the opportunity to win one of the beautiful table decorations donated by local businesses. The decorations will serve as centerpieces during the banquet.
Tickets for the annual banquet are available at the chamber office, which is located at 504 Main St. in Cassville. Advanced tickets are $17 per person. Tickets will also be available at the door for a cost of $20 per person.
