Junior Barnes Elkins, 82, of Shell Knob, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, in his home.

He was born June 15, 1927, in Scholten, the son of Jesse David and Maude Mae (Barnes) Elkins. On March 29, 1947, in Harrison, Ark., he was united in marriage to Jackie Irene Tate, who survives.

Additional survivors include: five sons, Charles David Elkins, of Orlando, Fla., Stephen Eugene Elkins and his wife, Joy, of Cassville, Jonathan Craig Elkins and his wife, Tayra, of Cassville, Keith Andrew Elkins and his wife, Claudetta, of Cassville and Kevin Anthony Elkins, of Butterfield; four daughters, Roberta Jean Krolzick and her husband, Fred, of South Bend, Ind., Rowena Ann Ray and her husband, Luther, of Aurora, Rebecca Joyce Periman and her husband, Roger, of Cassville, and Rosetta Louise Rose, of Monett; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

He received his education at Scholten and Owens Bend at Shell Knob. He attended Bible School at Ozark Christian College. During the Korean War he served our country in the United States Army. He settled in Kalamazoo, Mich., for a while, moving from there to Shell Knob 42 years ago. For several years he was in the janitorial department with the Cassville School District. He was a member of Antioch Pentecostal Church, Berryville, Ark.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Lohmer Full Gospel Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Dale Meredith and Pastor David Donaldson conducted the services. Burial was at Fields Cemetery, Shell Knob.
