Marla S. Mercer, 65, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Barry County Care Center in Cassville.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1944, in Eagle's Pass, Texas, daughter of John Edgar and Naola J. (Willcox) Moore. She was raised in Kingman, Kan., and was a 1980 graduate of Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kan., where she received a medical secretary degree, and also a graduate of Hastings Community College in Hastings, Neb. She lived in Hastings, Neb., for several years before moving to Missouri, where she resided in Carthage and Mt. Vernon before moving to Miller in 2004.
She had been a resident of Barry County Care Center in Cassville for the past three years. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors include: three sons, Kevin Paul Mercer, of McHenry, Miss., Myron Eric Mercer, of Mt. Vernon, and Randall Joseph Mercer, of Stott City; two daughters, Melinda Joanne Hollister, of Miller, and Catherine Christine Mercer, of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; six brothers, Larry Moore, Terry Moore, Mike Moore, Pat Moore, and Jeff Moore, all of Arapahoe, Neb., and Roger Moore, state of Nebraska; and three sisters, Karol Moore, of Hastings, Neb., and Shirley and Judy Moore, both of Kearney, Neb.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with words of comfort spoken by Bob Mizer.
Arrangements were under the direction of White Funeral Home, Cassville.
