Daniel A.  "D.A." bowman, 78, of Exeter, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, in Lacoba Nursing Home, Monett.

He was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Exeter, the son of Roy and Mary (Peters) Bowman. On February 24, 1950, in Columbus, Kan., he was united in marriage to Hilma Mae Cooper, who preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2009. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a grandson.

Survivors include: four children, David Bowman and his wife, Diane, of Cassville, Cheryl Lee, of Exeter, Dale Bowman and Coleen, of Exeter, and Donna Edie and her husband, Rick, of Exeter; one brother, James Ray Bowman and his wife, Donna, of Exeter; two sisters, Wilma Dean Zoll and her husband Irv, of Sun City, Ariz., and Ruth Morgan, of Hanover Park, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

He received his education at Exeter, graduating from Exeter High School in 1948. He resided in Wichita, Kan., for a few years, where he was employed at Beach Air Craft. He served in the United States Army. After his discharge from the Army, he moved to Illinois for awhile. In 1961, he moved back to Exeter and started dairy farming, which he continued until his health failed. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Graveside services with military honors were held today (Wednesday) at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jerry Yarnall and Brother Art Rogers conducted the services.
