Lora Leona (Ennis) Russell Loftin Hammond, 100, of Cassville, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
She was born Oct. 27, 1909, in Mineral Springs, the daughter of Thomas Martin "Marty" and Clara Minnie (Beeson) Ennis. On April 22, 1930, in Coldwater, Kan., she was united in marriage to Calvin Russell and to this union three sons were born. He preceded her in death in 1949. On Nov. 6, 1950, in Carroll County, Ark., she married Lester Loftin, who died in 1969. On Nov. 28, 1977, in Cassville, she married J.B. Hammond, now deceased.
Others preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Calvin James Russell, Jr., and five sisters, Vicey M. Brooks, Elma L. Bishop, Esther A. Bowers, Gracie E. Elliott and Thelma L. Weaver.
Survivors include: two sons, Doyle Eugene Russell and his wife, Gayle, of Jenkins, and Loren Lavon "Von" Russell and his wife, Patsy, of Purdy; two sisters, Myra Oleta Wierman, of Cassville, and Ruby Ada Kinser, of Jenkins; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She resided in Kansas and also Colorado a few years, but spent most of her life in the Cassville area. She was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Community Faith Chapel in Cassville.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jerry Nickle and Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Cassville.
