Russell Edward Babcock, 61, of Holiday Island, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, in his home.
He was born April 30, 1948, in Fresno, Calif., the son of Donald and Althia (Bruun) Babcock. On Nov. 16, 1974, in Anchorage, Alaska, he was united in marriage to Gail Irene Sayler, who survives.
Additional survivors include: his mother, Althia Barnett (Babcock), of Fresno, Calif.; his father, Donald Babcock, of Mayer, Ariz.; three sons, Russell Babcock Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, of New Jersey, Gary Babcock, of Fresno, Calif., and special son Albert Ip and his wife, Amy, of Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Chantel Babcock, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two brothers, Donald Babcock and his wife, Karen, of Dinuba, Calif., and John Mello and his wife, Carol, of Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Marjorie Patterson and her husband, Weldon, of Fresno, Calif., and Maddy Giger and her husband, Joe, of Slater; and eight grandchildren,
He received his education and graduated from high school in Juno, Alaska. He became a soldier in the United States Army in August of 1965, there he continued his education and served our country in the Vietnam War. He retired from the military after serving 24 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eureka Springs, Ark. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in First United Methodist Church, Eureka Springs, Ark. Visitation will be at Russell's home on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m.
