JEANNIE EDENS WHITNEY

Jeannie Edens Whitney, 81, formerly of Washburn, passed away Oct. 1, 2009, in Nashville, Tenn. The daughter of Freida Campbell Edens and granddaughter of N.E. Edens, she was born in Washburn Nov. 15, 1927.

Jeannie and Howard F. Whitney were married Oct. 28, 1945. Howard preceded her in death March 21, 1995.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nashville.

Survivors include: one son, Gregory Allen Whitney and wife, Sally M. Whitney, of Millersville, Md.; two daughters, Deborah Whitney Oliver and husband, William Huntley Oliver, Jr., of Nashville, and Cheryl Whitney Dixon and husband, Daniel Timothy Dixon, of Conway, Ark.; six grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jim Edens and wife, Imogene Edens, of Washburn, and Bob Edens, of Slidell, La.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. at Ruddick Cemetery, Garfield, Ark. Ken West will officiate.
