Orville Eugene Chandler, 76, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009, at home after an extended illness.
Born February 23, 1933, to Roland and Julia Chandler, he graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1950 and attended college at Allen County Community College in Kansas. He served in the Criminal Investigative Unit in the United States Army. On April 5, 1959, he married Georgia Mae Clark. He was the owner and operator of Chandler Amoco Enterprises in Chanute, Kansas, retiring in 1991 to Eagle Rock with his wife. He loved his family, Table Rock Lake, camping and bowling. He was a 50 year member of the Moran Masonic Lodge and the American Legion and an active supporter for Missouri Conservation.
Orville is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Debra and Larry Lea, of Kansas City, and Georgia and Rodney Graves, of Hutchinson, Kansas; two grandchildren, Dallas Lea and his wife, Angela, of Belton, Missouri, and Mae Graves of Hutchinson; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Lea and Kennedy Lea, of Belton; three sisters, Leona Werner, of Chanute, Kansas, Linda Call, of Yates Center, Kansas, and Sharon Utley, of Iola, Kansas; and one brother, Wayne Chandler, of Moran, Kansas; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his son, David.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009, in Orville's home.
The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to St. John's Hospice or the charity of your choice in memory of Orville.
