VIOLET DELORES (SHOEMAKER) STOCKTON

Violet Delores (Shoemaker) Stockton, 74, passed away Oct. 5, 2009, at Bothwell Regional Center in Sedalia. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Mo. Burial will follow at Lobb Cemetery, Blue Springs, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Violet was born April 26, 1935, in Blackwell, Okla., the daughter of Joe and Edna (Elmquist) Shoemaker. She moved to Barry County as a young child. She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Harry Stockton on March 14, 1954, and celebrated 55 years together. He survives.

To this union three children were born: sons, Steve and his wife, Kathy, of Warsaw, Marty and his wife, Dana, of Independence, and daughter Kelly and her husband, Tim, of Grain Valley. She is also survived by seven grandchildren who were the joy of her life: Steven, Kristi, Robby, Chad, McKayla, Maddie and Hannah; sisters, Emma Jo Privett, of Butterfield, and Erma Ruth Rose, of Carthage; and a host of nieces and nephews.
