Carolyn Sue Brown-Faltermeier, 67, of Golden, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at her home.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1941, in Kansas City, daughter of John R and Helena (Green) Ward. She attended school in Kansas City. She was crowned 1959 Yellowjacket Queen and also was a cheerleader before graduating from Center High School in 1959. On Feb. 24, 1972, she married Richard L. Brown in Kansas City, Kan. Together they owned and operated Brownie's BBQ in Paola, Kan., for nine years before Richard was diagnosed with ALS. He passed away on Feb. 28, 1999, after 27 years of marriage. She began work at Sprint/North Supply. She later married Paul Faltermeier. They moved to Golden, where they have lived for eight years.
Survivors include: her husband, Paul Faltermeier, of Golden; two sons, Kirk and Keith Foster; Kevin Jackson, whom she considered one of her own; one grandson; and one sister Mariavis Glavis, of Wasilla, Alaska.
In addition to her husband Richard, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with Chaplain Terry LaSalle officiating. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Paola Senior Center in Paola, Kan., from 3 to 5 p.m.
