Mary Louise Phinney, 88, died Wednesday, August 26, 2006, at her residence in Ridgecrest, California.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri, with Rev. Lee Porch of the Cassville United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services and interment were directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Mary Louise Phinney was born on August 28, 1920, at Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Hugh and Mary Lou (Lytle) McDaniel. She was raised and educated in Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School. She married Harold Shetley in Joplin in 1938 and they made their home in the Cassville, Missouri area for many years. Harold preceded her in death in 1965. She later moved to California where she married John Phinney in 1974 in Oceanside. They lived in the Los Angles area for several years before moving to Ridgecrest for the last twenty years.
Mary Louise Phinney is survived by her husband John of the home; four stepchildren, John Wesley Phinney, of Nashville, Tennessee, Walter Thomas Phinney, of Laughlin, Nevada, Cathey Phinney, of Palm Desert, California, and Rue Carton of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Betty Jo Young of San Jacinto, California; and four grandchildren, Danny Stumpff, of Bartlesville, Angela Berry, of Wann, Carrie Stumpff of Talala, and Kendell Stumpff, of Bartlesville, two nieces, Tony (Walton) Gordon, of San Jacinto, California, and Lorie Trumble, of San Jacinto, California; and one nephew, Mike Walton and his wife Debbie, of Ontario, California.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Harold Shetley, her parents, one daughter Carole (Shetley) Stumpff one son Billy Shetley and one brother, Powell McDaniel.
