Charles Alonzo Belveal, 73, of Exeter, passed away in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009.
He was born July 15, 1936, in Seminole, Okla., the son of Albert J. and Emma (Blackbourn) Belveal. He was united in marriage to Vaudine Bishop July 8, 1955, who preceded him in death on June 23, 1999. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vanessa Lowery; his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include: one son, Don Belveal and his wife, Rebecca of Jay, Fla.; one daughter, Rhonda Scott and her husband, Jeston, of Exeter; two sisters, Etta Nelson, of Seminole, Okla., and Charlene Nelson of Edmond, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was born and grew up in Oklahoma where he graduated from Seminole High School. He served his country in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He was a plant foreman for the Exxon Corp, which moved him from Oklahoma to Jay, Fla. After retiring, he and Vaudine moved to Exeter in 1995, to make their home. He was a member of the Mill Street Church of Christ.
Graveside services with military honors were held today (Wednesday) at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Wayne Deffenbaugh conducted the services.
