VIOLET I. HIGGS

Violet I. Higgs, 93, of Monett, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Joplin Health Care in Joplin.

She was born April 2, 1916, in Purdy, the daughter of Ira and Elsie Rhea Overton. She was an inspector for Avon in Kansas City, and a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.

She married Troy Higgs, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1979.

Survivors include: one son, Robert Higgs and fiancée, Leona Rightmire, of Monett; one sister, Mary Evelyn Barnett, of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jack Higgs; and one grandson.

The body has been cremated and no services are planned.

Arrangements were under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
