Wilma Elvira O'Neal, 83, of Aurora, formerly of Viola, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, in the Aurora Nursing Center.
She was born in Desloge July 19, 1926, the daughter of William Carl and Mary Josephine (McCoy) Eaves. She was united in marriage to Orville Wayne Gann and to this union one son was born. She later married Robert Jackson O'Neal, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Orville.
Survivors include: one son, Joseph Wayne Gann and his wife, Linda, of Aurora; one sister, Leona Mikel and her husband, Robert, of Winder, Ga.; one stepbrother, Charles F. Rose, of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.
She grew up and received her education in St. Louis County at Overland. She graduated in January, 1945, from Ritenour High School. In 1964, she moved to Viola to make her home. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Lester E. Cox Medical Center and Red Rose Inn-Cassville, before her retirement on July 1, 1991. She was a member of Viola Baptist Church and later attended Southside Baptist Church in Aurora.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Viola Cemetery, Viola, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Bob Gaddis conducted the services.
