Harvey G. Ray, 59, of Butterfield, passed away on Aug. 8, 2009, at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 21, 1949, in Cato, son of Jessie M. and Alice F. (Dillion) Ray.

He was a lifelong resident of Barry County. In his early years he attended the Fairview School in Shell Knob, then graduated from Cassville High School. He was united in marriage to Patricia Stipp on Aug. 22, 1970, at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield.

He worked for over 35 years at EFCO in Monett. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cassville.

Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Ray, of Butterfield; one daughter, Becky Jones, and her husband, Steven, of Butterfield; one brother, Jessie L. Ray, of Shell Knob; six sisters, Marie Collins, of Cedar Hill, Lela Lottmann, of Cassville, Marilyn Cox, of Wheaton, Louise Starks, of Birchtree, Joyce Sechrest, of Birchtree, and Jerlene Ray, of Cedar Hill; and one grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Ray, and one sister, Carolyn Ray.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at the White Funeral Home in Cassville with Rev. James Weaver and Pastor Lonnie Stockton officiating. Burial followed at the King Cemetery in Jenkins.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus of Monett and may be entrusted to the White Funeral Home.
