Ima Jean Lyons, 79, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009, in St. John's Hospital, Cassville.

She was born Aug. 6, 1929, in O'Neill, Neb., the daughter of Chester A. and Hazel (Tarpenning) Calkins. On Dec. 18, 1947, in Inman, Neb., she was united in marriage to Walter O. Lyons, who preceded her in death on June 18, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Cathy Jean; a great grandson, Joseph, and one brother Harold Calkins.

Survivors include: two sons, Gary O. Lyons and his wife, Barbara, of Edmond, Okla., and Larry D. Lyons and his wife, Patricia, of Exeter; two daughters, Connie Jo Writer, of Cassville, and Christy Jane Creamer and her husband, Ernie, of Monett; one brother, Donald Calkins and his wife, Claryce, of Lincoln, Neb.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education in O'Neill, Neb., graduating from O'Neill Public High School in 1947. In May 1960, she and her family moved to Cassville to make their home. From 1964 until 1966 Jean worked for Fairchild Sheet Metal as a bookkeeper. She later worked for Farmers Produce Exchange in June 1967. The Exchange later became known as MFA Agri Service, Cassville, where she remained until September 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Wayne Deffen-baugh will conduct the services. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
