Joyce Faye Allen, 59, of Purdy, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009, in her home.
She was born July 23, 1950, in Fayetteville, Ark., the daughter of Faye Arthur and Mackie Jo (Roberts) Whillock. On May 23, 1982, in Wichita, Kan., she was united in marriage to Bill Allen, who survives.
Additional survivors include: her father, Faye Whillock, of Tahlequah, Okla.; one daughter, Allie Allen, of Purdy; one stepson, Lonnie Allen-Phelps and his wife, Shannon, of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Bob Whillock and his wife, Dee, of the state of Idaho, and Dwayne Whillock and his wife, Doris, of Newton, Kan.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
She grew up and received her education in Wichita, Kan., and graduated from Wichita West High School. She then attended Wichita State University. Most of her life was spent as an administrative secretary for the Sedgwick County Health Department in Wichita. Three years ago she moved from Wichita to Purdy to make her home and began working in the dentist office of Dr. Carolyn Hunter. She was a member of Meridian Avenue Baptist Church in Wichita.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. There will be no visitation.
