Emmeline E. Casper, 97, of Purdy, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009. She was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Monett, the daughter of John Mourglia and Josephine Reynaud Mourglia.
She was a homemaker and retired school teacher. She was an active member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church. She was also active in 4-H and the Hawthorne Extension Club.
She was united in marriage to Norman P. Casper on May 7, 1939, in Purdy, and he preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1979.
Survivors include: two sons, John and his wife, Cindy, of Purdy, and Melvin and his wife, Terri, of Monett; daughter-in-law, Lynn Lowe and her husband, Ron, of Monett; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Maurice; four brothers, Leon, Felix, Frank and Eugene Mourglia; four sisters, Virginia Hammond, June English, and Verbena and Celena Mourglia, who passed away at a young age.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church with Rev. Vicky Evans officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
