Eugene Paul Ceselski, 83, of Purdy, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, in St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin.
He was born April 18, 1926, in Purdy, the son of Joseph Paul and Josephine Ellen (Pozniak) Ceselski. He was united in marriage to Sarah Ellen Julien on Sept. 1, 1956, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, of the home; one son, Paul Julien Ceselski, of Muskogee, Okla.; four daughters, Marie T. Ceselski, of St. Louis, Sarah K. Ceselski, of Delaware, Ohio, Josephine S. Baird, of Muskogee, Okla., and Davida Beck Doyle, of Lakewood, Wash.; one brothers, William Ceselski, of Marshall; three sisters, Angeline Hedges, of Denver, Colo., Patricia Tyler, of Joplin, and Zella Hauracha, of New Orleans, La.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Barbara Biggs, and three brothers, Ben, Bart and Lloyd Ceselski.
He was diagnosed with Polio at the age of four. The family moved to Omaha, Neb., where he graduated high school and attended the University of Nebraska majoring in engineering with a minor in psychology. He was a professional manufacturing engineer who worked on projects for the Department of Defense. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, Cassville. He was past president of Joplin Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6, in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Pulaskifield. Father David Miller, pastor of St. Edwards Catholic Church, Cassville, will conduct the services. Arrangements were made by Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
