Calvin Willis Schulz, 82, of Shell Knob, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, in Barry County Care Center, Cassville.

He was born Jan. 14, 1927, in St. Louis, the son of Reinhold and Laura (Merx) Schulz, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters.

He is survived by one sister, Virginia Thornhill, of Tucson, Ariz.

He grew up and received his education in St. Louis. During World War II he joined the United States Navy, serving from March 9, 1945, until July 10, 1946. Most of his life was spent working as a cement mason for Local 527 in St. Louis. He had resided in Shell Knob around 40 years. He was a member of American Legion and Missouri Amphibious Navy.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.

Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Military honors will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, by VFW Post 2203 in the funeral home.
