Stanley E. Marbut, 74, of Purdy, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009, at Missouri Rehabilitation Center Mt. Vernon. He was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Purdy, the son of the late Brit Olda and Mayme (Edwards) Marbut. He was united in marriage to Patsy Miller on Feb. 1, 1955, in Purdy, and she survives.
He graduated from Purdy High School in 1952. He joined the United States Air Force in 1954 and retired on disability retirement in 1967. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 10 years and retired from United States Civil Service as airfield manager in 1991 at Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas. He served as treasurer of the Arnhart Cemetery for the last 12 years.
Additional survivors include: one daughter, Pamela Lane, of Houston, Texas; one son, Edward Scott Marbut, of San Antonio, Texas; one grandson; and three sisters, Betty McQueen, of McKinney, Texas, Wilma Schaeffer, of Great Falls, Mont., and Rose (Jimmy Rex) Terry, of Kansas City.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Christy Lee Marbut; one brother, Doyle Dempsey Marbut; and two sisters, Mary Mackey and Norma Jean Marbut.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday at Arnhart Cemetery, Purdy, with Rev. Bert Ward officiating. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arnhart Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
