Ava Lee Terry, 86, of Monett, a life long resident of Purdy, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at her daughter's home in Monett. She was born Jan. 28, 1923, in Purdy, to the late John and Letha (Owens) McHolland. She was united in marriage to Leon James Terry on Sept. 29, 1937, in Purdy, and he preceded her in death March 6, 1980.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Arnhart Baptist Church in Purdy.

Survivors include: three sons, Donald Leon Terry, of Neosho, Johnny Terry and Kenny Terry, both of Purdy; four daughters, Patsy Boyd, of Purdy, Jeannie Trogdon, Nancy Roller and Jane Sisney, all of Monett; two sisters, Ina Mae Davis, of Stockton, Calif., and Betty Harp of Purdy; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Joe Lee Terry; one daughter, Shirley Allen; three brothers, Bob Rogers, Harlan Campbell, and Forrest Campbell; and one granddaughter, Karla Leanne Roller.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, at Arnhart Baptist Church, Purdy with Rev. Lawrence Shuey officiating. Burial will be in the Arnhart Cemetery, Purdy. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home Monett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arnhart Cemetery Association in care of the funeral home.
