Jimmie Bowman, 69, of Wheaton, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at his home. He was born on Oct. 25, 1939, son of Ernest C. "Doc" and Bessie (Elkins) Bowman in Stella.
He was a 1957 graduate of Fairview High School. After graduating, he served in the United States Army for three years. During his service time he was stationed in Germany, where he met Margaret Schafer. They were united in marriage on Aug. 13, 1959, in Frankfurt, Germany. After his service time, he worked for National Cash Register and then became an exceptional entrepreneur having had several business in Kansas City and the Barry County area.
He was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church of Cassville.
Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Margaret Bowman, of Wheaton; two sons, Wolfram Maria Josef Bowman, and his wife, Jennifer, of Pea Ridge, Ark.; Gregory Edwin Bowman, and his wife, Teresa, of Cassville; four brothers, Charles Bowman, of Riverside, Calif., Willard Bowman, of Fairfield, Ky., Sam Bowman, of Independence, and Kenneth Bowman, of Aurora; and three grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gary Bowman; two brothers, Joe and Jerry Bowman; and one sister, Nadine Bowman.
Funeral mass was celebrated on June 15 at the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Cassville, with Rev. David L. Miller officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Edwards Catholic Church building fund or to Hospice Compassus of Monett and may be entrusted to the White Funeral Home.
