Wilma Clara Long, born July 11, 1940, in Ellismore to James and Maude Woods, passed away on May 12, 2009, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

On Feb. 21, 1964, she married Gary Paul Long who preceded her in death in 1989. She was also preceded in death by one son, Billy Long, in 1991 and her father, James Woods, in 2008.

Survivors include: a daughter, Paula Gay Long, of Theodosia; her mother, Maude Woods, of Cassville; two sisters, Sue Hill and her husband, Ron, of Lee's Summit, and Shirley Sermon and her husband, Bob, of West Plains; and two grandchildren.

She graduated in 1959 from Wheaton High School. Her marriage to Gary, who was in the armed forces, led them to many interesting places in the United States. After her husband's retirement, they settled in Monett. Her career started at St. Vincent's Hospital, which later became Cox Monett Hospital, and lasted for many years. She was a member of New Site Baptist Church in Monett. She was active in many clubs and organizations, including Red Hatters.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Aaron Weibel conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
