District champ Cassville's Dylan Gibson won the district title in the discus throw. Gibson will now compete at sectionals in Marshfield on Saturday.

The Wildcats are finished with districts as of last Saturday. For many this marks the end of another season, but for some, it means that they will be working hard to prepare for sectional competition.

Cassville went up against a total of 16 schools at the district meet with the boys taking fifth place and the girls finishing 13th. A total of nine students qualified to move on to the next round with their top four individual performances.

Jessica Barrientos will be the sole representative for the Ladycats at sectionals year after placing third in the one-mile run. She also finished fifth in the two-mile run.

Dylan Gibson again led the Wildcat boys' team. He earned district champion honors by taking first place in the discus throw.

For Seth Thompson, it was also familiar territory, as he landed a second place finish for his performance in the shot put contest. Also bringing home silver from districts was the 4x100-meter relay team of Brent Elkins, Joseph Gouvion, Josh Lewright and Trevor Shumaker.

In addition, Mathew Angel earned a spot in the sectionals after placing fourth in the high jump. Angel also finished sixth in the 800-meter run. Devin Linenbrink placed fourth in the long jump and will be competing at sectionals.

On the girls' side, Marti Richmiller earned points for Cassville, placing sixth in both the high and triple jumps. The 4x100-meter relay team of Risa Darveaux, Calissia Brookes, Danielle Pianalto and Paige Hukill finished in sixth place, and the 4x200-meter relay team of Darveaux, Reba Dupont, Pianalto and Hukill earned fifth.

In boys' action, Gouvion came in sixth in the 100-meter dash, Lewright finished sixth in the 200-meter dash, and the 4x200-meter relay team of Elkins, Gouvion, Lewright and Shumaker finished sixth.
