Harold "Sonny" Tuter Jr., 74, of Washburn, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at his home.
He was born on April 19, 1935, in Buffalo, the son of Harold and Lena Pauline (Irvine) Tuter, Sr. He was united in marriage to Thelma Darlene Walker on May 1, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was a veteran and had served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He was a former Greene County deputy and a former chief of police of Fairgrove. He and Darlene moved to the Washburn area from Galena 11 years ago.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Thelma Darlene Tuter, of Washburn; one daughter, Vicky Shockley, and her husband, Marvin, of Purdy; one sister, Anita Trotter, of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Tuter.
Memorial services with military honors were held on Tuesday at the White Funeral Home in Cassville.
