The Cassville Wildcat golf team has won the Big 8 Conference championship after leading the field during last Thursday's conference meet held at the Cassville Golf Course. Cassville golfers combined for a team score of 335 to win the Big 8 title.
Monett and Mt. Vernon tied for second place with team scores of 350. Seneca was fourth with a score of 378. Carl Junction finished fifth with a score of 388 and Aurora was sixth with a score of 400. Lamar came in seventh place with a score of 460.
Taylor Vanzandt, of Cassville, was the meet medalist, taking first place with a score of 73 on 18 holes. Jacob Fair, of Monett finished in second place, shooting a 75. Evan White, of Cassville, and Eric Wilmouth, of Mt Vernon, tied for third with a 77 score. Vanzandt and White earned first team All-Conference honors for their performances.
Parker Stumpff and Justin Mills were selected for the All-Big 8 second team after finishing seventh and ninth respectively.
Cassville hosted the district golf tournament on Tuesday afternoon. Results were not available at presstime.
