Glen H. Smith, 84, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark.
He was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Washington County, Ark., the son of William Ab and Laura (Rice) Smith. On Oct. 29, 1949, he was united in marriage to Lola A. Cuzick, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Vaughn Smith, of Cassville, and Hal Smith and his wife, Cindy, of Cassville; one daughter, Debbie Dorman and her husband, Dan, of Prairie Grove, Ark.; one brother, Arnold "Blackie" Smith, of Elm Springs, Ark.; one sister, Ina Troutt, of Rogers, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Tyler (wife, Leslie), Shane, Sommer, Christopher, Abby, Sally, Cheri (husband, Rob) and Melanie (husband, Jason) and seven great-grandchildren, Cadyn, Sarah, Matt, Caleb, Braden, Brock and Sherilan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
He was raised in Arkansas, where he received his education. Most of his adult life was spent in Barry County working in the poultry industry. He worked for Morrow Milling Company in Carthage, MFA in Wheaton, and then became employed by Hudson Foods, working in the turkey division for 16 years as production grow-out manager. During World War II, from September 1944 until August 1946, he served in the United States Army infantry. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cassville.
Funeral services were held Monday at First Baptist Church in Cassville, under direction of the Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Rev. James Weaver conducted the services. Burial, with military honors, was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
