Gladys "Maxine" Blythe, 89, of Galena, Kan., passed away Monday, April 20, 2009, in Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

She was born Dec.17, 1919, in Washburn, the daughter of Thomas and Viola (McNabb) Burnette. On Nov. 5, 1939, in Washburn, she was united in marriage to General James Blythe, who preceded her in death in August 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Survivors include: one brother, Verl Burnette, of Washburn; and one sister, Lorene Davis, of Galena, Kan.

She received most of her education in Washburn. She moved to Galena, Kan., where she lived almost 70 years. She was a hard worker. She worked at the sawmill a number of years and loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was raised in the Baptist faith and attended the Assembly of God Church in Galena.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Antioch Cemetery, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
