Roger Dale Crabtree, 64, of Exeter, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, in St. John's Hospital, Cassville.

He was born Sept.17, 1944, in Colusa, Calif., the son of William Joseph and Bonnie (Bowling) Crabtree. On July 4, 1992, he was united in marriage to Mary Susan "Sue" Brock, who survives.

Additional survivors include: three sons, Roger Crabtree, Jr., of Ashaway, R. I., Tommy Thornton, of Texas, and Shane Thornton, of Exeter; four daughters, Lorenza Gonzales, of Texas, Tonya Thornton, of Texas, Casey Epperly, of Springfield, and Susan Crabtree, of Williams, Calif.; one brother, Ron Thornton, of Fairland, Okla.; two sisters, Mary Ann Nordyke, of Exeter, and Patricia Cape, of Cassville; 14 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

He grew up and received his education in California. From Oct. 27, 1961, until Jan. 31, 1962, he served in the United States Navy. In the mid 1980s he moved to Missouri to make his home. He had driven trucks for Sitton Truck Lines and Steve Coones Trucking. He was currently driving for George's.

Graveside services with military honors were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Jerry Yarnall conducted the services.
