Garry Don Short, 74, of Cassville, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born on Dec. 4, 1934, in Hardman County, Texas, son of Leonard Preston and Margie Estelle (Northam) Short. He was united in marriage to Linda M. Helms on Dec. 17, 1960, in Vernon, Texas. He worked as a salesman for Spann's Automotive before working for Mitchell's Auto Parts in Altus, Okla., for 20 years. He and Linda moved to Cassville in 1985 from Oklahoma to make their home. He worked for O'Rileys Auto Parts and retired after eight years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Fargo Church of Christ in Northside, Texas.
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Linda Short, of Cassville; one daughter, Terry Lynn (Short) Baartman, of Stillwater, Okla.; two brothers, Johnny Short, and his wife, Pat, of Commerce, Okla., and Richard Short, and his wife, Carol, of Garland, Texas; three sisters, LaRhesa Cypert, and her husband, Roy, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Rena Standlee, of Shallow Water, Texas, and Kay Mabry, and her husband, Larry, of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Holcomb, and two grandsons.
Graveside services were held on Saturday at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Okla.
