Charles Eldon Alexander, Jr., 84, of Wheaton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in his home.
He was born April 22, 1924, in Marion, Ohio, the son of Charles E. and Ada Marie (Schoonover) Alexander. On April 8, 1950, in Tulsa, Okla., he was united in marriage to Carol Long, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Charles Alexander III and his wife, Stacy, of Wheaton; two daughters, Catherine Alexander, of Wheaton and Cherry Alexander, of Vancleave, Miss.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dolores Longnecker.
He received his education in Green Camp, Ohio. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. he served in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Cabot. After the war, he worked as an industrial engineer for the Boeing Aircraft Company. He was a lifetime member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, a registered rabbit judge, past president of the New Orleans Chapter of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers and an active adult leader of the Boy Scouts of America. He moved from Picayune, Miss., to Wheaton two years ago. He was of the Methodist faith.
His body was cremated under the direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
