The Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Protection District has begun the process of forming its own auxiliary organization.
According to Fire Chief Ron Creek, this type of organization would allow individuals an avenue for getting involved with the fire protection district even though they are not a firefighter or First Responder.
An organizational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 at Fire Station #1 on Highway 86 in Eagle Rock. Anyone interested in helping support the district is invited to attend.
Creek said the Auxiliary could get involved in running a rehab area for firefighters when they are resting from firefighting or members could assist the district with fundraising efforts.
"Help is always needed," said Creek. "Our people are in the business of helping other people."
The ERGM district also sponsors a Junior Firefighter program for youth age 12 to 18. For more information on that program, contact Creek at 271-4182 or the Fire Station at 271-3642.
The district's next fireworks fundraiser will be a dinner on April 5 at the Eagle Rock Community Center.
