Each year, Cassville Primary School students participate in a variety of activities that are sponsored by local businesses. The Cassville R-IV School District's business partners program teaches children about the importance of business in local communities.
"The purpose of the program is to help foster community involvement in our school and expose our students to different businesses and job opportunities in the community," said Catherine Weaver, primary school principal. "Our students have the opportunity to learn firsthand how different businesses operate, and that when we tell them they need to be successful in school to excel in the workplace, it's really true.
"Our children are the future of our community, so the stronger the connection, the stronger our community," said Weaver.
Business partners, which are assigned to a kindergarten, first or second grade classroom, provide students with resources, sponsor activities and share knowledge. Representatives have read stories to children, sponsored incentive programs and displayed student artwork in their offices.
"Our students provide artwork and notes of appreciation to their business partners," said Weaver. "This helps to foster their personal responsibility and growth toward interactions with others."
Over 35 local businesses participate in the business partners program. They include: Able 2 Products; Aire Serv; Angel and Company, CPA; Arning Canopy Systems, Inc.; Bank of America; Barry County Ready Mix; Barry Electric; Baywash; Carolyn Hunter, DMD; Cassville Branch Library; Cassville Florist; Chez Notre; Commerce Bank; Cox Health Center Cassville; Herrin Animal Hospital; Hometown Mortgage and Rapid Tax; James W.
