Damian R. Ford, 54, of Exeter, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in Missouri Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon.
He was born Jan. 10, 1955, in New York City, N.Y., the son of Robert and Margaret (Berlin) Ford. He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Thomas and Rita Berlin and Elby and Glenn Richter; and his stepfather, Adelbert Richter.
Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Cavin, of Independence, and James Yoshimoto, of Cassville; a daughter, Kelly Hinson and her husband, Andy, of Cassville; his mother, Margaret DeLaMora and her husband, Lorenzo, of Exeter; four brothers, Stephen Richter, of Monett, Daniel Ford and his wife, Joy, of Exeter, Bruce Richter, of Russellville, Ark., and Peter Richter, of Modesto, Calif.; eight sisters, Darlene Dodd, of Katy, Texas, Pam Tennyson, of Monett, Carol Bland, of Verona, Sandy Richter, of Exeter, Desiree Ford, of Exeter, Arthelda Richter, of Katy, Texas, Catherine Richter of Russellville, Ark., and Michelle Thomas and her husband, Mike, of Exeter; Uncle Frank Richter; aunts, Ila Hazelrigg, Willa Dean Trenary, Emma Hicks and Janice Malicoat; Uncle Roger and Aunt Noreen Berlin and Aunt Val Hughes.
He received his education in California. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Marines and served in the Special Forces in Vietnam, North Korea, Desert Storm and Panama. He retired from the service in Hawaii. After his retirement he worked at George's for three years. He was a member of Ridgley Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial with military honors will be in Concord Cemetery, Exeter.
