Purdy reviews PD report

The Purdy City Council reviewed an end-of-the-year police department report at its regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 12.

According to the annual report, which was submitted by Chief Jackie Lowe, the Purdy Police Department conducted 212 traffic stops and issued 126 citations and 128 warnings in 2008. The department also responded to 760 calls for service last year.

In 2008, the department handled 130 cases, which included: 12 domestic disturbances; 11 burglaries; five assaults; and 15 thefts. A total of 26 arrests were made during the year.

Lowe also presented the council with a request to purchase new tires for one of the city's patrol cars. He included bids from Ball and Prior, in Golden, and Friendly Tire, in Monett.

After reviewing the bids, the aldermen decided to request more information and review the issue at the next meeting.

In other business, the Purdy City Council:

* Received a building code enforcement report from Mike Redshaw, city building inspector.
