Ronald Louis Sprenger, 66, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, in his home after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 5, 1942, in Westphalia, the son of Hugo Stephen Sprenger and Mary Louise (Fetchel) Sprenger.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970. On April 26, 1978, he married Dollie Jean Henson, of Cassville. He was a member of the St. George Catholic Church in Linn.
Survivors include: his wife, Dollie Jean, of the home; a daughter, Christy Lynn (Sprenger) Matar and her husband, Ryan, of Springfield; a stepson, Michael Cooper and his wife, Lynna, of Cassville; three grandchildren, Christian Matar, of Springfield, and Kendal Cooper and Emily Cooper, of Cassville; and three brothers, Jerry Sprenger and his wife, Judy, of Linn, Kenny Sprenger and his wife, Gerri, of Jefferson City, and Danny Sprenger and his wife, Lisa, of Pearl River, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stanley Sprenger.
Funeral services were held Friday at Greenlawn East Funeral Home, Springfield. A military service followed at the Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
