Charlotte A. Carter, 70, of Washburn, died on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, while staying with her sister in Mendota, Ill.
She was born in Mendota, Ill., on June 6, 1938, the daughter of Harry and Vietta "Midge" Blackburn Walzer. She married Dr. Robert Carter on Aug. 6, 1960, in Peoria, Ill. Dr. Carter died on Aug. 8, 1976.
She was a writer of fiction and a homemaker. She was a member of the Cassville Missouri Writers' Group and the Northwest Ridge Writers at Springdale, Ark.
Survivors include: a son, Robert Troy (Julie) Carter, of Ark.; four daughters, Lori (Wes) Hoadley, of Dekalb, Ill., Wendy (L.J.) Gooder, of Powell, Kara (Rex) Hendrix and Kati (Pete) Rose, both of Washburn; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Shirley (Phil) Foster, of Shabbona, Ill., and Sharon Voss and Sandy (Pat) Powers, both of Mendota, Ill.
Her parents and a brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 17 at the First United Methodist Church of Mendota with Pastor Michael Morrell officiating, followed by burial at Precinct Cemetery in Earlville, Ill.
