House Speaker Ron Richard, R-Joplin, has named Rep. David Sater, R-Cassville, as chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations-Health, Mental Health and Social Services for the 95th General Assembly. Rep. Sater also served as chair of the committee for the 93rd and 94th General Assemblies.
"Rep. Sater has the experience, education and personal strength to be an exceptional leader of this vital committee," said Speaker Richard. "David is a healthcare expert and as a pharmacist, he knows first-hand the needs of many of our citizens."
The House Committee on Appropriations - Health, Mental Health and Social Services reports to the Budget Committee on bills, measures and questions referred to it by the Budget Committee pertaining to the public funding of the Department of Health and Senior Services, the Department of Mental Health and the Department of Social Services.
As chair of the committee, Rep. Sater will preside over committee hearings and be responsible for all legislation referred to the committee.
"The current difficult economic times affect us all, and I will continue to balance the needs of our less fortunate citizens with the interests of Missouri taxpayers." said Rep. Sater.
