Cassville High School will offer an ACT review course over a five-day time frame. Cost for the course, which covers two workbooks, is $30, and it must be paid in advance.
The course will be held at the new Crowder College Cassville Campus on Business 37 and will last from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day with a one-hour lunch break. Students will be responsible for the cost of their own lunch and transportation to and from the site.
By registering for the class, students are committing to the following activities: Friday, Feb. 20, review of all four ACT test areas; Saturday, Feb. 28, practice ACT test under actual testing conditions (8 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m.); Friday, March 13, review practice ACT test scores, answers and continue drills in ACT workbooks; Friday, March 27, optional half-day review and wrap-up.
As a final activity, students must pay to take the official ACT test, which will be offered on Saturday, April 4 at Cassville High School, as well as other area schools.
The course is limited to the first 30 Cassville High School students who register and pay their $30. In addition, students who took the class last year will not be eligible to take it again unless seats are available after the registration deadline. Their cost will be $15 for one new workbook.
Students may register and pay in the CHS counselors' office. The deadline for registration and payment is Friday, Jan. 30.
Similar classes are offered through private companies for as much as $750. This is an exceptional opportunity for students who have not taken the ACT or for those who have already taken the ACT and wish to improve their scores.
In the state of Missouri, a score of 31 guarantees a student a Bright Flight scholarship, which is $2,000 a year, renewable up to five years.
